Notre Dame needed to make a splash in the transfer portal with a quarterback that could be an upgrade. Wake Forest’s Sam Hartman is just that.

Football independence long has been held as sacred at Notre Dame, but the way college athletics is headed, that may no longer be an option.

Notre Dame didn’t look the part of a College World Series program when postseason commenced. Irish sure look the part now as one of final eight.

“This group has a lot of momentum right now,” Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman said. Now we see if the Fighting Irish can carry that into the fall.

The way Brian Kelly tells it, he led the Irish to double-digit wins and big-time bowl appearances while his guys were eating baloney sandwiches.
